Thirty-nine years old, Sainiana now lives in her village home the majority of the time in sunny Fiji. Her village home is a 45 minute drive from the city of Suva, past the second largest airport in Fiji, the Nausori airport. A former journalist and public relations expert who has worked in Fiji and the Pacific extensively, as well as traveling the world as a former civil servant and UN staff, she now spends most of her days on her farm where her family, including her sixty-nine year old dad, still lives in a literal communal set-up.
Sainiana travels every now and then to Suva to attend her tutorials at the University of the South Pacific where she is pursuing further studies in Law, or to join her husband on occasion in fulfilling his role as a Member of Parliament in Fiji. Since moving back to her home village from the city, she has rediscovered her love of real island life, the leisure of working on the farm, and spending her days mixing with her island folks.
