Juls is a travel graduate, self-proclaimed “certified adventurer,” cat-lover, and writer. When her chef boyfriend asked her if she would move to the Bahamas with him for a new job opportunity, what could she say but yes? Within three weeks, she quit her job, sold her car, got married, and left her snowy Canadian home for hot, sunny beaches. Like others, she’s realised that paradise is not all it seems to be. She’s used to hitting the ground running, rush hour traffic, and remembering to put on winter tires in September. The island is challenging her more than any mountain summit or ski hill ever has, but she’s thankful for it.

Juls wants to use her time here to focus on self-growth and writing, which is easier said than done with a beach just outside her windows. You can follow her adventures and various struggles at Leaf in the Wind.

The Gift

The Gift

When my husband and I decided to uproot our family from Kentucky- from the only place, people, and life we have ever known- and move to a tiny island in the Caribbean, it was of course met with so many remarks to the tune of "Oh My Gosh, THAT'S AMAZING!", "You are...
