In my last post, I shared that I was searching for a new Head Woman to take the helm of the Women Who Live on Rocks community and wow – you all really delivered!
I received so many emails packed with stories from women who were interested to find out more about the opportunity and to potentially take on the project. Over the last two weeks, I’ve chatted with so many incredible islanders both via email and over the phone. It’s been a ton of fun connecting with everyone and hearing your creative ideas for the future of Women Who Live on Rocks.
Thank you to each and every one of you who reached out and took the time to share your interest in the site. It was definitely not an easy decision, as there were many of you who would no doubt make an excellent fit. My biggest goal was to find a woman who has not only the time and energy to take this community onward, but also someone who is passionate about island living and will ensure this remains a welcoming, inclusive space for every kind of woman on a rock.
Please join me in providing a warm island welcome to the new owner of Women Who Live on Rocks, Jacqueline Schofield!
Jacqueline is a Canadian who has called the Cayman Islands home for the past 26 years. While she and her family have spent most of their time on Grand Cayman, they were also fortunate to live on Cayman Brac (one of the “Sister Islands” – an expression she loves) for 5 years – her oldest was actually born there. (That, she assures us, is a whole story in and of itself – crabs in the delivery room and tropical storm rains for the days of labour!)
She is a teacher by profession and has taught in both private and government schools in the Cayman Islands from pre-school up to high school. She was also a vice-principal for a while. Jacqueline now teaches French part-time at a Montessori school and has been looking for her next adventure. Both of her kids are away at school now and she had been searching and wondering what this next adventure might look like… and lo and behold…the post about a new owner for Women Who Live on Rocks appeared!
I’ve had such a nice time chatting with Jacqueline, hearing her ideas, and her love for this community of island souls. I feel confident that she’ll be a wonderful woman to go forth and lead the next iteration of Women Who Live on Rocks.
While I’ll no longer be the woman behind the palm frond curtain, I’ll be with you all in spirit and hope to continue to connect with you from my current perch in Miami Beach. You can keep in touch and find me on Instagram at @chrissann_nickel.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me and I wish you all many more years of island girl magic to enjoy together!
