Nikki has made Roatan her home rock after a few exploits on other islands. Her last residence in the USA, where she is from, was popular and crowded so that she began to view the vertical landscapes of Manhattan as mountain ranges. She knew it was time for a slower pace and set out to find her fortune.

Landing in Roatan with a blast of hot, liquid air and the smell of jasmine, Nikki took in the surroundings and decided to stay. She had been here before, 23 years ago, and was pretty sure the plane was the same one she had taken then. The choice to fly on the small death trap was made when the taxi driver told her they called the ferry, “The Vomit Comet”. She instantly thought of the move, Stand by Me, and the barf-o-rama scene, and decided on the plane. The plane is definitely not the entire reason she resides on Roatan.

The beauty above and below is breathtaking every day upon opening the front door to her adorable condo. She doesn’t always step outside into the hustle and bustle of the tourists and locals mixing and mingling like potions brewing though. Some days she stays in her hammock and her little porch surrounded by hibiscus and hummingbirds, writing the stories she has collected, and laughing out loud with her dog so that the neighbors are sure she is either mad or drunk or both.
