Born on an rock populated by hippies and draft dodgers in the Pacific Northwest, Carrie has never felt at home anywhere that doesn’t function on “island time.” She planned her university education around the study-abroad courses her small college offered and used her student loans to explore islands from southern Italy to Borneo before deciding to become a professional SCUBA diver. Her career has taken her to some amazing places and she’s now found herself on the strangest rock to date. In an attempt to pay back those aforementioned loans, she’s taken a job on Grand Cayman – the least island-like island she’s ever lived on. Everything is expensive and footwear is mandatory. Despite the traffic, fashionable residents, and peer pressure to take up jogging, Carrie finds comfort in watching the island’s uncontrollable chicken population intimidate the stray cats. After all, no matter how many exclusive hotels and world class restaurants pop up, this is still just a little rock in a big sea.

When she’s not underwater or petting dogs, Carrie chronicles her adventures on her personal blog, Seawich Sandwitch.
